Some Things to Watch For

Written by Paul Zeise on .

A couple of quick notes:

** According to the official depth chart handed to the broadcasters -- Shane Gordon will be making his first start at strongside linebacker. Greg Williams is the back-up to both Gordon and Tristan Roberts which means Dom DeCicco will start at strong safety and Jason Hendricks will start on the bench. On passing downs, DeCicco will move up to his nickleback role and Hendricks will play safety. This, again, is according to the official depth handed to the broadcasting crew so I suppose it could change but it isn't usually wrong.

** Bryan Murphy is on the same depth chart which means he will likely get his first action today as well. Part of it is because he has been that good, but the other part is Brandon Lindsey has a banged up shoulder and coaches aren't sure how much he'll be able to contribute today.

** Andrew Taglianetti is here but he is in street clothes, so I assume that means he isn't going to be playing.

** One other change - Brock DeCicco is going to start at tight end ahead of Mike Cruz and this is a move based solely on the fact that coaches are unhappy with Cruz's lack of production and want to try and light a fire under him.

** There could be a few more announcements coming after the game about disciplinary actions regarding a few of the players who are not exactly crucial to the team's success, but it is still a pain in the neck for Dave Wannstedt. One of those players, however, may just have earned his first start today if he wasn't on double not-so-secret probation. More to come.
