In a word: Welcome.
You have found what you should consider your new portal into all things West Virginia University football --- your constantly evolving, up-to-the-minute, find-it-here space on the Internet if you are a Mountaineers fan.
Before you do much more, register here: http://community.post-gazette.com/user/CreateUser.aspx
Quickly, let me introduce myself -- My name is Colin Dunlap and this will be my first year on the WVU football beat. That said, I have a clear vision of the type of coverage I want to bring to you, and, in addition to what you can find in the hard copy of the Post-Gazette, much of it will be found here on 'Eers to the Ground.
Remember, though, much of the success of this blog hinges on interactivity, which is why you shouldn't hesitate to register and make comments. It is free, easy, keeps you in the loop and gives you a voice.
There are, too, some things that you will quickly grow accustomed to, and come to rely upon, as a visitor of 'Eers to the Ground.
Each week this blog will feature:
> Comprehensive game day coverage of each home and away game. For home games, I will get to Mountaineer Field early and set the scene inside and outside the stadium with the written word, photos, audio snippets and possibly even video. For road games --- and I am make every trip --- the same will be done. Also on game day, you can email me your photos and some of them will make their way onto the blog.
> A regular segment each Thursday titled 7 points with Rasheed Marshall where the former WVU quarterback will tackle seven questions on everything from the past week's game, to the upcoming contest or just general Mountaineers football topics. Having Rasheed aboard for this will bring a perspective that I hope you will appreciate, as he is someone who has led that WVU huddle in the not-so-distant past and knows the inner-workings of the program.
> A live chat with me covering all aspects of WVU football where your questions, both broad and narrow, are more than welcome. It is planned for each Thursday at 2 p.m.
> In depth coverage of, and reaction to, Coach Bill Stewart's weekly news conference on Tuesday afternoons. The WVU players are available to the media on Tuesday nights, so look for news, notes and quotes from that gathering as well.
> Snippets, notes, analysis and anecdotes about WVU football, in the written form, as they happen. That is why it is imperative you bookmark this blog, as it will be something that constantly evolves, sometimes numerous times in the span of just a few hours.
> Audio collected from various WVU players and coaches that will be uploaded throughout the week.
> A day-after-game day look around the Big East Conference that will run each Sunday. In essence, this will be links to what other newspapers and media outlets are saying about the team(s) they cover in relation to the game they just played.
Those will simply be the benchmark segments of this blog, the features that will have a scheduled time and place each week. But, there will be a lot more to this piece of cyberspace and, as was stated above, be sure to bookmark 'Eers to the Ground, register to make comments and check this blog regularly --- you will be glad you did.
