Bowl week begins in New York

Written by Jenn Menendez on .

NEW YORK -- Center Joe Madsen is academically ineligible for the Pinstripe Bowl and did not make the trip to New York according to a report in the Charleston Daily Mail. We are told Dana Holgorsen will address who is not here later today at practice.

It’s unclear who will move to center, since Madsen has started nearly every game in his career at center.

Jeff Braun is likely to slide over from guard, but backup John Bassler is listed in the two-deep behind Madsen.

West Virginia players and coaching staff arrived Christmas night in the city and will practice today at Fordham University in the Bronx.

Both teams will have members of the coaching staff available for interviews at Yankee Stadium later tonight for the bowl game’s media day.

Of note: Syracuse Coach Doug Marrone suspended two players for a violation of athletic department rules –tailback Adonis Ameen-Moore and backup tight end Max Beaulieu according to the Syracuse Post-Standard. Both will be ineligible for Saturday’s Pinstripe Bowl. Read that story here.

Programming note: Tomorrow's WVU football live chat is still scheduled for 2 p.m. the storm is coming into New York over the next day could potentially force the schedule to change. Will update you here and on twitter if that happens.
