Was that Stedman Bailey's last home game too?
QB Geno Smith and WR Tavon Austin played their final home games at Mountaineer Field Saturday night, and went out in style.
But what about junior WR Stedman Bailey?
Bailey, surrounded 360 degrees by a throng of reporters late Saturday, said he is unsure of his intentions regarding the NFL draft this season.
Bailey, who had 159 receiving yards on 11 catches Saturday, regularly dazzled this season and there is wide speculation that he has the skills and ability to make the jump a year early to the next level.
“I’m not sure about that yet. I do have another year of eligibility,” said Bailey. “I’m not sure. I’m not sure. As of now I’m not sure.”
Asked if anyone has tried to persuade him to stay, Bailey said he gets messages daily from his fans.
“All the fans are. They tweet me just about every day, all day, just saying they hope I don’t leave. And I appreciate all that stuff,” said Bailey. “The fans are very loyal. Nothing like Mountaineer nation. It’s all good.”
Bailey's regular season stats:
- 23 touchdowns
- 125.1 receiving yards per game
- 106 catches
- 1501 total receiving yards
