Jenkins replacement at corner?
Who will replace Brodrick Jenkins at corner for West Virginia?
We learned earlier this week that Jenkins is out this week with a small cartilage tear, and according to his twitter account he had surgery on it.
Coach Dana Holgorsen intimated he wouldn’t be out long, but … ?
Co-defensive coordinator Joe DeForest did not say who would replace him when asked on Tuesday night after practice, but all indications point to a true freshman.
True freshman Ricky Rumph (5-10, 172) is listed behind Jenkins on the depth chart, and true freshman Nana Kyrehmeh (5-10, 176) is another option. He is listed behind Pat Miller at boundary corner.
“Well we don’t have many guys left. So it’s open for competition,” said DeForest on Tuesday. “You look at the depth chart and the next guy’s got to step up. Whether it’s another true freshman so be it. That’s what we’ve got to deal with unfortunately.”
The West Virginia secondary hasn't exactly been the strong suit of this team, so a chink to the starting lineup could be costly for the team.
The West Virginia pass defense is ranked 118th of 120 teams, with just Baylor and Louisiana Tech yielding more yards.
