Geno Smith: "This is a must-win for us"

Written by Jenn Menendez on .

The first “must-win” of the season is upon West Virginia.

To stay in contention for the Big 12 title in the team’s first year in the conference, they need to beat Kansas State.

The Mountaineers tumbled 12 spots in the national polls this week after the loss at Texas Tech.

Kansas State is the last unbeaten team in the league at 6-0 overall, 3-0 in the Big 12.

The Mountaineers have said all season that he goal this year is to win the conference championship, and at this point it looks as if two losses in the Big 12 will make that goal quite difficult.

And remember Oklahoma is still on the docket…

Asked this week if the game is a must-win, quarterback Geno Smith said yes, it’s the reality of the situation.

Smith: “Every game is a must win for us, especially in college, (where) we don’t have the luxury of a playoff system. If you want to be right there at the end, win it all, you have to win. We lost one, but our goals are still in reach, but this is a must win for us.”
