"K-State Mask" has fans heated up
West Virginia fans have been heated up over a video produced by a Kansas State fan, who calls himself the “K-State Mask” that has been making it’s way around the internet.
The video which, billed as “inspiration” for Saturday’s game between No. 4 Kansas State and No. 17 WVU, delves into stereotypes about people from West Virginia, and prompted even the president of Kansas State to do an interview on MetroNews this morning to make clear that Kansas State values West Virginia as a member of the Big 12.
(The school is not affiliated with the making of the video)
President Kirk Schultz told MetroNews: “I just felt, as an institution, we need to make sure, as new members of the Big 12 Conference, that folks know that we value West Virginia being in there. Trash talking needs to, sort of, be at a family level and I think some of this just went overboard."
A link to the video is here if you are inclined to view it. The comments below it are dotted with expletives, so fair warning.
Some fans expressed they thought the video was funny, others said they are deeply offended.
