It's GAMEDAY in Austin, Texas.
The noise of a hundred thousand is hours away from raining down on the game you've been waiting for: No. 8 West Virginia at No. 11 Texas.
What’s on the line today?
West Virginia is 4-0 and the talk of college football. Texas is 4-0 and is trying to be the talk of college football again with a win today.
Reality is the outcome of this game could have some serious implications if both teams remain in the race for the Big 12 title.
It’s been starred on the schedule for most of us who follow the team for some time now, simply because of the idea that Texas is one of the big boys. It’s time to see what this team is made of.
What are the big questions?
Will West Virginia’s defensive problems catch up to them this week?
Texas has a run game that can hurt. So the biggest question is can the Mountaineer defense slow it enough and perhaps come up with a turnover or two?
Not sure the offense will match last week’s ridiculous numbers, but it doesn’t take a genius to conclude Geno Smith and his band will be able to find a few ways to score.
Texas does have a nasty pair of defensive ends though and a secondary that will pose the most difficult one-on-one match ups West Virginia’s receivers will have seen this year.
Best case scenario?
West Virginia’s offense does what it does best, the defense is by no means stellar, but slows the Texas run game, and comes up with a key turnover to buy some time for Geno to do his thing.
The Longhorns are favored in this one, but they play the games for a reason as they say, so we’ll see.
