Alston likely to play Saturday

Running back Shawne Alston is still listed as day-to-day with a thigh bruise Dana Holgorsen said today in his weekly press conference.

Alston was used in an emergency situation last week against Maryland but never got a carry and his absence was notable for a myriad of reasons.

Will he play on Saturday in the team’s Big 12 opener against Baylor?

Quick answer: sounds like it, yes.

Holgorsen said he expects Alston to practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week and as long as he does so at a high level, he expects he’ll be ready to go on Saturday.

"He was an emergency guy, got in a few times. He will need to practice today, tomorrow and Thursday at a high level to count on him playing Saturday. Do I expect that to happen? Yeah, I do," he said.
