MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Blaine Stewart, the son of the late Bill Stewart played in his first game of the season at Morgantown High School last night.

He had a couple of special guests in the crowd: Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin and General Manager Kevin Colbert.

Blaine Stewart tweeted the following last night.

@BlaineStewart3: Special shoutout to Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert (Steelers GM), and my cousin Corey from NC for coming to my game tonight. Meant a lot to me!!

Tomlin was hired by Stewart at Virginia Military Institute back in 1995.

Bill Stewart died suddenly in May of an apparent heart attack while playing golf at age 59.

He replaced Rich Rodriguez as interim coach in time to prepare to face Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2, 2008 then was named head coach shortly after West Virginia won 48-28.

His three teams at West Virginia 9-4 in 2008, 2009, and 2010.

They were 1-2 in bowl games before his WVU career ended in June of 2011 amid strange circumstances that led to the early promotion of Dana Holgorsen as head coach.
