WVU Fan Day Aug. 12

A couple of get-ready-for-the-Big-12 events to share this week.

1. WVU announced plans for the team’s annual Fan Day next month where fans can get autographs.

Who: Coach Dana Holgorsen, his assistants and players will be on hand

What: To sign autographs of course

When: Sunday Aug. 12 1-3 p.m.

Where: Capterton Indoor Practice Facility

The fine print: Each fan will be limited to one autograph item. And, put away that tripod, because setting up posed pictures with players and coaches will not be allowed.

2. “Stripe the Stadium

The school unveiled this event for the team’s first Big 12 home game: Baylor on Sept. 29.

The instructions: Fans sitting in even-numbered sections (Sec. 102, 104, 202, 204 etc.), Touchdown Terrace, and WVU students seated in the upper level student sections are encouraged to wear GOLD to the game.

Then, fans sitting in odd-numbered sections (Sec. 101, 103, 201, 203, etc.) and WVU students seated in the lower level student sections are encouraged to wear BLUE to the game.

What's it spell? Gold and blue stripes.

And in case you missed it, several players were named to "Watch" lists in the last week.

Joe Madsen was named to the Rimington Trophy Preseason Watch List, given to the nation's best center.

Geno Smith and Tavon Austin were named to the Maxwell Award Preseason Watch List, given to the country's most outstanding football player.

Tyler Bitancurt was named to the Lou Groza Award Preseason Watch List, awarded to the nation's best placekicker.
