The new gray uniforms

Ryan Nehlen modeled West Virginia's new gray uniforms today on campus.

The gray uniforms bring the team's total options to 16 different uniform combinations, 32 if you count the two helmets.

Nehlen said they fit exactly the same as the white, gold and blue versions and he thinks his grandfather - former head coach Don Nehlen - would like them.

"I'm sure he's traditional - gold and blue. But I think he'll like them," said Nehlen.

Saturday will be the program's final day as a member of the Big East, as Sunday - July 1 - marks the teams first day as official members of the Big 12.

The athletic department is throwing a celebration for its student athletes, coaches and staff at 5 p.m. - cookout style.

“July 1, 2012 is an important and historic day for our University,” said AD Oliver Luck in a statement. “We wanted to do something special for our student-athletes as we join the Big 12 Conference, and bringing them together along with our coaches and staff will be a great way to recognize our membership into a new league. Everyone has been looking forward to this day and Sunday will be a time to enjoy it as an entire department.”
