QB Geno Smith said this week he’s been watching his reps throwing the football as spring football winds down.
Tonight marks the 14th and final practice before Saturday’s spring game at 6 p.m. – which will mark the end of the spring season.
“I want guys like Ford (Childress) and Paul (Millard) to get more reps. Also just keeping a pitch count, making sure I take care of myself and understand there’s no need to go out there and throw the ball 100 mph every time.”
Smith said he’s not actually out there counting his reps – that’s a figure of speech – but wants to just stay healthy and not overdo it.
“Just want to be mindful of my shoulder, my arm, my entire body as well as everybody else,” he said. “It’s been a grind. We’ve been throwing since the Orange Bowl, 7-on -7, we been throwing on our own, and now we've been practicing. Our arms get a little tired. It’s the home stretch and we’ve got to make sure we’re healthy.”
