Spring practice bright: WR Jordan Thompson

Written by Jenn Menendez on .

Came across a fun story talking to freshman WR Jordan Thompson after practice today about the benefits of enrolling early at WVU.

Thompson said he hadn’t reached that decision until he was contacted midway through the first semester of his senior year by Dana Holgorsen and Shannon Dawson in the middle of class one day.

At 5-7, just 159 pounds (from Katy, Texas) he’s currently on the two-deep behind J.D. Woods at one of the inside receiver spots.

“It was during one week in the middle of District play. They called me on my cell phone. I was in class. (It was a) West Virginia number. I wondered ‘Who’s calling me?’ I answered in class, just being sneaky," said Thompson. "They told me, 'This is Dana Holgorsen.'  After that I just told the teacher and she dismissed me out of class.”

Exactly what class it was he got the call in, we never got to.

But it wasn’t calculus.

Thompson said took that first period in the morning. As an elective. (Read: by choice)

As for enrolling early, Thompson said he's glad he did so and is excited for the spring game on Saturday.
