Five freshman have enrolled early at West Virginia, Dana Holgorsen announced in a release this afternoon. They include a quarterback, defensive tackle, two safeties and a wide receiver.

News and Notes:

The Football Writers Association of America named its freshman all-American team today and awarded Dana Holgorsen first-year coaching honors.

The team and coach are selected by an 11-person panel of writers led by Mike Griffith of the Knoxville News Sentinel.

The ECAC named its 2011 FBS All-Stars.

Freshman RB Dustin Garrison was named the ECAC Offensive Rookie of the Year.

QB Geno Smith, WR/RS Tavon Austin, and DB Keith Tandy were named ECAC All-Stars.
