No more Eu.? What is the world coming to?

Apparently --- and for some, sadly --- the "Eu." is no more at West Virginia.
Well, not the "Eu." in its entirety, but the jersey, at least. For those who aren't in the know, the "Eu." (pictured above) is the quizzical abbreviation for his first name worn last year on the back of the jersey for then-backup quarterback Geno Smith. Well, "Eugene" is his first name, so it kind of made sense, a little bit. But, if everyone calls him Geno -- and he goes by Geno in the media guide, program, etc. -- then why not change it?
Alas!
Looks like the "Eu." is officially retired, as you can tell from about the 1:24 mark of this video from WVMetroNews that is from Fan Day today.
As plain as can be, you can see that Mr. Smith --- now the starter --- has "G. Smith" sewn onto the back of his jersey.
Ahhhhhhh. The "Eu" was fun while it lasted.
