-Brad Thiessen made 30 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-0 shutout of the Worecester Sharks. The Penguins snapped a five-game losing streak.
-The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are 11-3-2 when MacIntyre is in the lineup and 4-12-1 when he’s not.
-Scott Darling made 30 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-0 shutout of the Trenton Titans. Paul Crowder added a hat trick for Wheeling while teammates Scott Zurevinski collected a goal and and two assists.

-Kings forward Anze Kopitar is expected to be sidelined three weeks after suffering a knee injury while playing for Mora of Sweden's Allsvenskan.
World Junior Championship
-Western Pennsylvania products Riley Barber, John Gibson, J.T. Miller and Vince Trocheck help lead the United States to a gold medal at the World Junior Championship.

-In the bronze medal game, Penguins defensive prospect Scott Harrington recorded an assist for Canada which lost to host Russia, 6-5 in overtime. In six games, Harrington had two assists.

-Former Predators goaltender Jan Lasak has joined Spartak Moskva of Russia's KHL.
-Dane Fox had a hat trick for the Erie Otters in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Sarnia Sting.
-Eric Levine made 47 saves for the Robert Morris men's team in a 4-1 defeat of Army.
-A hat trick and two assists by Daniel O'Donoghue led the Mercyhurst men's team to a 5-2 win against Maine.
-P.J. Musico made 22 saves for the Penn State men's team which lost to Connecticut, 4-1.
-Kristen DiCiocco made 18 saves for the Robert Morris women's team in a 2-1 loss to RIT.
Collin Brennan made 36 saves for the Johnstown Tomahawks in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Michigan Warriors.
