Penguins

-NHL deputy commissioner and NHLPA special counsel Steve Fehr had informal talks over the weekend.

-Penguins forward Tanner Glass made his debut with Banska Bystrica and was held without a point in a 2-1 shootout win against HK Nitra in the Slovak Extraliga.

-Happy 30th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Nathan Guenin. A native of Hopewell, Guenin came to the Penguins as a free agent in the 2009 offseason. After two games and no points, Guenin was traded midway through the 2009-10 season in exchange for Steve Wagner. He is currently the captain of the Norfolk Admirals, the Ducks' AHL affiliate.

-Happy 49th birthday to former Penguins forward Chris Kontos. Acquired midway through the 1986-87 season in a deal which sent Ron Duguay to the Rangers, Kontos spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. He finished 1986-87 by appearing in 31 games for the Penguins and scoring 17 points. After 36 games and eight points in 1987-88, Kontos was traded to the Kings along with a draft pick in exchange for Bryan Erickson. In 67 games with the Penguins, Kontos scored 25 points.

Atlantic Division

-Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov is dealing with a virus.

Northwest Division

-Avalanche forward Matt Duchene has joined Ambrì-Piotta of Switzerland's NLA.

Pacific Division

-“They said it would be a deal-breaker somehow to bring the PA leadership, and that halts the negotiations. I don’t feel comfortable, and I don’t think 750 hockey players feel comfortable, with me making the deal when we have professional negotiators working for us. Maybe it was our fault and we shouldn’t have taken the meeting without our leadership. Basically, before, we were acquiescing to their unilateral condition that they didn’t want him in the room. I can’t imagine teachers, auto workers, newspaper writers, or anyone else making a deal without their leadership in the room.” - Kings forward and NHLPA negotiation committee member Kevin Westgarth on last week's talks with the NHL.

Norris Division

-Oscar Dansk made 32 saves for the Erie Otters in a 5-2 loss to the Brampton Battalion.
