Another Penguins player heads to Europe.
Forward Tanner Glass (right), a free agent signing this past summer, has joined HC Banska Bystrica of the Slovakian Extraliga. He plans on making his debut for the team Friday.
In 78 games with the Jets last season, Glass, 29, had 16 points (five goals, 11 assists) and 73 penalty minutes. He signed a two-year deal with the Penguins as a free agent worth a total of $2.2 million. He has spent the majority of the lockout practicing in British Columbia with several members of the Canucks.
Other locked out NHLers playing for HC Banska Bystrica are Sharks forward Michal Handzus and Wild defenseman Clayton Stoner. The team is coached by former Islanders/Predators forward Vladimir Orszagh.
Glass is the fourth Penguins player to sign overseas during the lockout. He joined defenseman Deryk Engelland of Rosenborg IHK Elite in Norway's GET Ligaen, forward Dustin Jeffrey of Medvescak Zagreb, a Croatian team in Austria's EBEL and Evgeni Malkin of Metallurg Magnitogorsk in Russia's KHL.
