Penguins

-As spotted by The Pensblog, Evgeni Malkin (above) would appear to be rooting for the Lions in today's Thanksgiving football action. We think.

-The NHLPA moved closer to the NHL's demands but the league rejected the player association's latest proposal.

-"We're making a move in their direction, so I don't see why they wouldn't consider it," he said. "It's a little closer to their proposal. It's definitely something they'll have to consider, or they should at least." - Sidney Crosby on the NHLPA's latest proposal.

-Could the NHLPA turn to decertification?

-Due to the lockout, several former players over the age of 65 have quit receiving their pensions.

-Jeff Zatkoff made 15 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-0 shutout of the rival Hershey Bears. Teammate Benn Ferriero had a goal and an assist.

-Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins coach John Hynes denied a report that his team issued a bounty on Hershey Bears defenseman Steve Oleksy.

-Scott Darling made 18 saves for the Wheeling Nailers who shut out the Evansville IceMen, 4-0. Cam Fergus scored two goals for the Nailers while teammate Peter Lenes added a goal and an assist.

-Dustin Jeffrey had three goals, including an overtime goal on a penalty shot, for Medvescak Zagreb in a 5-4 win against EC KAC in Austria's EBEL.

-Ex-Penguins forward Mark Recchi was inducted into the Italian American Sports Hall of Fame in Rosemont, Ill.

Atlantic Division

-A Flyers fan interrupted NHL commissioner Gary Bettman's media availability in New York yesterday.

Southeast Division

-"I am disgusted. We have to push Fehr to the wall to get the deal. Time is against us. We lost 1/4 season, it is $425 million. Who will give it back to us? Mr. Fehr? There should be voting between players. Four questions - YES or NO - then count it. If half of players say let's play, then they should sign new CBA. -"It's disappointing. I feel they're trying to bully us and trying to draw a line in the sand."  - Lightning forward Martin St. Louis on the NHL's rejection of the NHLPA's latest offer.

Northeast Division

Central Division

-Blues goaltender Jaroslav Halak has joined Lausitzer Füchse of Germany's 2nd Bundesliga league.

Pacific Division

-Ducks forward Bobby Ryan has joined Mora of Sweden's Allsvenskan.
