Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

"Twenty Years Later" is a segment with a highly unimaginative name which will appear on Empty Netters throughout the 2012-13 season. We will examine the Penguins' 1992-93 season which led to the only President's Trophy in franchise history. The 1992-93 squad is commonly regarded as the most talented in the history of the Penguins. We will look back on games on the date they happened.

Today, we look at the Penguins' 4-2 win against the Buffalo Sabres, Nov. 20, 1992.

The Penguins won their second consecutive game at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, N.J. Right winger Shawn McEachern gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead 10:03 into the game with a goal against goaltender Craig Billington. Center Ron Francis recorded the only assist.

Late in the first period at the 19:52 mark, right winger Rick Tocchet scored the eventual game-winning goal off assists from center Mario Lemieux and right winger Joe Mullen.

At 9:20 of the second period, defenseman Scott Stevens scored New Jersey's only goal of the game on a power-play against goaltender Tom Barrasso. Assists went to center Peter Stastny and right winger Claude Lemieux.

McEachern scored his second goal of the game at the 16:35 mark off assists from Tocchet and Lemieux.

The game's final goal was scored by Tocchet at 1:35 of the third period. Mullen and Lemieux netted assists.

Notes:

-Barrasso made 33 saves in the win. Barrasso earned his 89th career win with the Penguins and broke the franchise mark for wins initally set by goaltender Denis Herron.

-The game's three stars were 1.) Tocchet 2.)  McEachern 3.) Lemieux.
