Today, we look at the Penguins' 8-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, Nov. 13, 1992.
The Penguins were shut out for the first time all season at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. Center Jimmy Carson gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead 14:38 into the game with a goal against goaltender Tom Barrasso. Right winger Dino Ciccarelli recorded the lone assist.
Less than a minute later at 15:20 of the first period, center Sergei Fedorov made it a 2-0 game off assists from left winger Shawn Burr and defenseman Vladimir Konstantinov.
At 3:13 of the second period, Carson scored again on a power play to give Detroit a 3-0 lead. The only assist went to Ciccarelli.
Detroit took a 4-0 lead at the 16:10 mark when center Steve Yzerman scored off assists from right wingers Ray Sheppard and Bob Probert.
A short-handed goal by left winger Paul Ysebaert made it a 5-0 game at 17:35. Fedorov netted the only assist.
Just over a minute later at the 18:47 mark, Carson completed the hat trick by scoring off assists from Ciccarelli and defenseman Steve Chiasson.
Yzerman scored again on another power play against goaltender Ken Wregget at 13:34 of the third period to give Detroit a 7-0 lead. Assists were credited to Sheppard and defenseman Brad McCrimmon.
The contest's final goal was scored at 16:58 by Sheppard off assists from Probert and Yzerman.
-Barrasso made 34 saves in the loss.

-Yzerman's first goal of the game was the 400th of his career.
-Red Wings goaltender Tim Cheveldae made 28 saves to record his fifth career shutout.
-Carson's hat trick was the 10th of his career.
-Penguins center Mario Lemieux left the game in the second period due to a heel injury.
