Penguins

-Ex-Penguins forward Rick MacLeish rode out Hurricane Sandy in Ocean City N.J.
-Happy 40th birthday to former Penguins forward Glen Murray. Acquired in the 1995 offseason, Murray spent parts of two seasons in Pittsburgh. In 1995-96, he appeared in 69 games and scored 29 points. During that spring's postseason, he played in 18 games and netted eight points. After 66 games and 22 points in 1996-97, Murray was traded to the Kings in exchange for Ed Olczyk. Murray, one of eight natives of Nova Scotia to play for the Penguins (Paul Andrea, Dennis Bonvie, Sidney Crosby, Lowell MacDonald, Al MacNeil, Jon Sim and Wendell Young are the others), appeared in 135 regular season games with the Penguins and scored 51 points.

-Rangers defenseman Michael Del Zotto has joined Rapperswil of Switzerland's NLA for the duration of the lockout.
Northeast Division
-Bruins forward Chris Kelly has joined Red Ice of Switzerland's NLB for the duration of the lockout.
-Canadiens defenseman PK Subban took a turn doing the Weather for a Canadian television network:

-Capitals forward/captain Alex Ovechkin, currently playing for Dynamo Moscow of Russia's KHL, is dealing with bronchitis.

-The NHL's lockout and the NBA's lockout of 2011 are eerily similar.
