-Happy 81st birthday to former Penguins defenseman Jim Morrison. Acquired from Baltimore of the AHL in exchange for cash and future consideration early in the 1969-70 season, Morrison, an all-star with the Maple Leafs in the mid 1950s, spent the final two seasons of his 12-year NHL career with the Penguins. In 1969-70, he appeared in 58 games and contributed 20 points. In that spring's postseason, Morrison saw action in eight games and recorded three points. He followed that up in 1970-71 by playing in 70 games and recording 10 assists. He retired in the 1971 offseason. The first player in franchise history to wear No. 27, Morrison appeared in 128 regular season games for the Penguins and scored 30 points. Break on through to the other side.

And if that means we’re not going to play because the owners don’t want to negotiate fairly with us, then so be it and that’s the way it is. Do I want to play? I love to play. I’m having a blast when I’m out there.” - Senators captain/forward Daniel Alfredsson on the lockout.

On a personal note, Rich is a good person who broke down a lot of doors for hockey bloggers such as ourselves. Good luck to him in his future endeavors.
