This time I think we’re more optimistic that it might happen earlier, hopefully by November so we can have December with hockey.” - Capitals forward Mike Ribeiro comparing the 2004-05 lockout to the current one.

-The goal was later overturned.

-"People don't think it can go a year. As players, we think it can. Maybe longer.'' - Red Wings forward Dan Cleary on the length of the lockout.

-Red Wings forward Jan Mursak has joined Olimpija Ljubljana of Austria's EBEL for the duration of the lockout.

-"We saw what the (owners) did in '04-05, and who knows if they're willing to do that again. To me, it's just carelessness. It's them just trying to show everyone that they're the owners and they're the league. They can do whatever they want. If they want to hurt their own game and drive it into the ground, that's what they'll do. Even if it comes down to that, it doesn't matter as long as they get what they want." - Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

-Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko has joined SKA St. Petersburg for the duration of the lockout.

Northwest Division

-Oilers executives met with officials in Seattle about potentially relocating.

-EN Says: A hockey owner in an established hockey market flew west to sort of threaten relocation. Sounds familiar huh? That's what the Penguins several years ago in order to get a new arena built. That's what the Oilers are doing. This team allegedly made $18 million last season and even contributed to the NHL's revenue sharing program. That fact that the team issued a press release to announce they were meeting in Seattle is proof that this is a bluff in order to get a new building in Edmonton.

Norris Division

-Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds (right) and Blues forward Chris Stewart have joined Eispiraten Crimmitschau of Germany's 2nd Bundesliga league.

-Former Sharks/Avalanche/Hurricanes/Panthers/Ducks/Rangers defenseman Sandish Ozolinsh has joined Atlant Mytishchi of Russia's KHL.
