Penguins
-Happy 32nd birthday to former Penguins forward Dominic Moore (right). Acquired from the Predators along with Libor Pivko in exchange for a draft pick in the 2006 offseason, Moore spent part of one season with the Penguins in 2006-07. In 59 games, he contributed 15 points. At the trade deadline, he was dealt to the Wild in exchange for a draft pick. He is currently a free agent.
-Happy 32nd birthday to former Penguins defenseman Jordan Leopold (right). Acquired just prior to the 2010 trade deadline in a deal which sent a draft pick to Florida, Leopold appeared in 20 regular season games for the Penguins and contributed eight points, including two short-handed goals. In the postseason, Leopold appeared in eight games and failed to record a point. Following the season, he joined the Sabres as a free agent. He is current still a member of the Sabres. Leopold is one of four former Hobey Baker Award winners who have played for the Penguins. The others are Brian Bonin, Brian Holzinger and Kip Miller.

Atlantic Division
-The Islanders signed defenseman Griffin Reinhart, a first-round pick in this summer's draft (No. 4 overall), to a three-year entry-level contract.
-The Islanders removed goaltender Rick DiPietro from injured reserve.
-Note: In the event of a lockout by NHL owners, the Islanders would have had to pay DiPietro were he still on injured reserve.
Northeast Division
-Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask (right) is ready to take over for Tim Thomas.
-The Sabres re-signed defenseman Alex Biega to a one-year two-way contract.
Southeast Division
-The Lightning signed undrafted defenseman Dmitry Korobev to a two-year, two-way contract.
-The Jets promoted assistant to the general manager Larry Simmons to assistant general manager.
Central Division
-Four members of the Red Wings' "Russian Five" - forwards Sergei Fedorov, Igor Larionov, defensemen Viacheslav Fetisov and Vladimir Konstantinov - will take part in the Winter Classic alumni games.
Northwest Division
-Former Canucks captain Mark Messier was awarded a $6 million judgement by an arbitor over a long-standing grievance had against the team. Messier played for Vancouver from 1997-98 through 1999-2000.
-The Canucks signed forward Alexandre Mallet, a second-round pick in this summer's draft, to an entry-level contract. Terms of the contract were not revealed.
-The Avalanche is scheduled hold a scrimmage at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. during training camp.
-Former Robert Morris forward Nathan Longpre has joined the Chicago Wolves, the Canuck's AHL affiliate.
Pacific Division
-Kings captain Dustin Brown (right) will be an honorary starter for the NASCAR Spring Cup Finger Lakes 355 at Watkins Glen International (N.Y.), Aug. 12.
Smythe Division
-Former Sharks forward Lukas Kaspar has joined Donbass Donetsk of Russia's KHL.
-Former Blue Jackets/Thrashers/Panthers/Flames defenseman Clay Wilson has joined Donbass Donetsk.
-Former Senators/Bruins forward Josh Hennessy has joined Vityaz Chekhov of Russia's KHL.
