-Former Penguins forward Cal O'Reilly (right) has joined Metallurg Magnitogorsk of Russia's KHL. In six NHL games last season with the Penguins, O'Reilly recorded one assist.
-The NHL and NHLPA will resume negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement today.

-The Devils promoted former captain Scott Stevens and hired Matt Shaw, formerly of the Sharks, as assistant coaches. Stevens spent the past six seasons as a special assignement coach while Shaw spent the past three seasons as an assistant with the Sharks.
-The Sabres re-signed defenseman TJ Brennan and signed former Panthers forward Nick Tarnasky to one-year contracts believed to be two-way contracts.
-The Jets are working on a long-term contract extension with restricted free agent forward Evander Kane (right).
-Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec issued a statement apologizing for his May DUI arrest in the Czech Republic.
-The Panthers re-signed goaltender Brian Foster to one-year contract believed to be a two-way deal.
-The Charlotte Checkers, the Hurricanes' AHL affiliate, have signed goaltender Rob Madore, a native of Pittsburgh.
-The Blackhawks hired Jamie Kompon, formerly of the Kings, as an assistant coach. He spent the past six seasons as an assistant coach with the Kings and won the Stanley Cup this past season.
-“Right now my priority is to see Shea signed and hopefully finalize a longer term deal with Shea." - Predators general manager David Poile on restricted free agent defenseman and captain Shea Weber.
-The Predators re-signed restricted free agent goaltender Jeremy Smith to a one-year two-way contract.
-The Red Wings made an offer for Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash. The Blue Jackets said no thanks. They don't want to deal their best player to a division rival.
-Former Robert Morris forward Ryan Cruthers has joined the Orlando Solar Bears, the Wild's ECHL affiliate.
-Unrestricted free agent forward and former Coyotes captain Shane Doan (right) isn't in a particular hurry to sign with anyone.
-The Ducks extended a qualifying offer deadline to former Penguins forward Luca Caputi until Aug. 1.
