Penguins

-"I'm going to shoot for the stars, listen to everybody's advice, see how far I can take this." - Penguins defensive prospect Joe Morrow (above). The Penguins prospect development camp begins today.

-“I want to showcase what I’ve got." - St. Cloud State goaltender Ryan Faragher on being invited to the camp.

-Terry Bross, the agent for Coyotes captain Shane Doan (right), an unrestricted free agent, made the media rounds yesterday and said his client had mutual interest in joining a number of teams including the Penguins. Other teams with mutual interest include:

-Blues.
-Canadiens.
-Flyers.
-Rangers.
-Jets.
-Kings.
-Maple Leafs.
-Sharks.
-Canucks
-Red Wings
-Blackhawks.

-EN Says: We have a feeling if the Atlanta Journal-Constitution called, Bross would claim his client is interested in the Thrashers. This is a case of an agent trying to drive up his client's value to the Coyotes and the rest of the NHL. Doan wants to stay with the Coyotes, but that franchise's ownership situation is a concern. If Doan can find a good combination of a Cup contender, salary and convenience for his family, he will take a chance with another team.

-Former Penguins defenseman Ross Lupaschuk has joined EC Salzburg of Austria's EBEL.

-Happy 38th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Alain Nasreddine (right). Acquired at the 2004 trade deadline in a deal which sent Steve Webb to the Islanders, Nasreddine spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. Following the 2004-05 lockout, he appeared in six games and didn't record a point for the Penguins in 2005-06. The 2006-07 campaign was his finest as an NHLer as he appeared in a career-high 44 games and scored five points. In 2007-08, Nasreddine was limited to six games and no points. During the 2008 offseason, he joined the Sinupret Ice Tigers Nurnberg of the DEL in Germany. He is currently an assistant coach with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Northeast Division

-The Bruins signed former Maple Leafs forward Christian Hanson to a one-year two-way contract. He is a native of Peters Township.

-The Sabres are having some Navy SEALS operate a portion of their prospect camp.

Southeast Division

-If you're wondering what two Staal brother jerseys look like together, here you go:

-The Panthers signed former Rangers forward Andre Deveaux to a one-year two-way contract.

-The Capitals announced an affiliation agreement with the ECHL's Reading Royals.

Central Division

-Former Sabres/Blue Jackets defenseman Nathan Paetsch and former Flyers/Predators forward Triston Grant have joined the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings' AHL affiliate.

-Defenseman Jake Chelios, the son of former Blackhawks defenseman Chris Chelios, is taking part in Chicago's prospect camp.

Northwest Division

-The Canucks re-signed restricted free agent forward Mason Raymond (right) to a one-year contract worth $2.275 million. In 55 games last season, Raymond, 26, had 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists).

-EN Says: Raymond is a former 20-goal scorer. Much of his past season was lost due to a broken vertebrae suffered in the 2011 Stanley Cup final. If he can stay healthy, he's fully capable of being a 20-goal winger on the second line.

-The Wild introduced new signings Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.

Pacific Division

-The Ducks signed former Kings forward Corey Elkins to a one-year contract believed to be a two-way deal.

Smythe Division

-Former Avalanche forward Kyle Cumiskey has joined MODO of Sweden's Elitserien.

-The NHL and NHLPA completed two days of further negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement.
