Penguins sign former Lightning forward Smith - 07-01-12

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

Here's another signing for the AHL level.

The Penguins have signed former Lightning forward Trevor Smith to a one-year two-way contract.

In 16 NHL games last season, Smith, 27, scored five points (two goals, three assists).

In 64 games last season with the AHL's Norfolk Admirals, Smith scored 69 points (26 goals, 43 assists), sixth-most in that league.

EN Says: The WIlkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are going to be really good next season. Smith is one of the best players in that league and he's joining a team which was fairly talented to begin with.
