-Evgeni Malkin was awarded the Kharlamov Trophy as the best Russian player in the NHL.
-Speaking of best, Malkin had this tremendous exhange with Coyotes forward and former Penguins teammate Paul Bissonnette over Twitter:
Devils - Kings
-"It's like any arena. You've got about 18,000 people that want you to lose no matter where you go." - Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick on the Prudential Center.
-"They see you skating, getting ready and they don't understand why you aren't back and playing. For them, if you're skating, you should be playing if you look that good on the ice. At the same time, it's not the way you look. It's the way you feel." - Kings forward Simon Gagne on his recovery from a concussion.
-“People always look to what’s happened, what’s happened in the past, what’s happened in history. Really, that has no impact on our series right now and that’s our approach. We know that the odds, the numbers are stacked against us. It doesn’t bother us. We just know that we have to win. We have no choice.” - Devils captain Zach Parise (right).
-“Focus? I thought that question was going about the lady behind our bench last game. You saw my 100 per cent focus on the game. That’s discipline, I’ll tell you.” - Devils coach Peter DeBoer on a porn actress who sat behind the Devils' bench during Game 4 in Los Angeles.
-The Capitals will not re-sign forward Jeff Halpern.
-Wild forward Guillaume Latendresse, who missed most of this past season due to a concussion, declared himself healthy after getting treated by Dr. Ted Carrick, the same concussion specialist who dealt with Sidney Crosby.
-Former Hurricanes/Maple Leafs coach Paul Maurice has taken over as head coach of Metallurg Magnitogorsk in Russia's KHL.
-He'll be joined by former Penguins goaltender Tom Barrasso (right). A few days after he was re-assigned within the Hurricanes' organization as a scout, Barrasso took a job as an assistant coach with Metallurg Magnitogorsk.
-Sabres broadcaster Rick Jeanneret and Globe and Mail columnist Roy MacGregor will be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame after being awarded the Foster Hewitt and Elmer Ferguson Memorial Awards respectively.
-Longtime Montreal Gazette columnis Red Fisher has retired. Fisher has covered the Canadiens and the NHL since 1955.
-Former Panthers/Flames forward Marcus Nilson has joined MODO of Sweden's Elitserien.
