Penguins

-A Penguins fan is suing the Penguins for texting him too much. Would-be Penguins owner Jim Balsillie (right) will offer his comment via BBM.

-Henrik Samuelsson, the son of former Penguins defenseman Ulf Samuelsson and the brother of Penguins defensive prospect Philip Samuelsson, has seen his stock for next month's draft rise as a result of a strong run in the Memorial Cup tournament with the Edmonton Oil Kings.

Playoff Stuff
Devils - Kings

-An overtime breakaway goal by Anze Kopitar gave the Kings a 2-1 win against the Devils in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Jonathan Quick made all of 16 saves for Los Angeles which has a 1-0 series lead.

Atlantic Division

-The Rangers signed undrafted forward Marek Hrivik. Terms were not revealed.

Northeast Division

-The Canadiens signed defenseman Nathan Beaulieu, a first-round pick in 2011, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Southeast Division

-The Capitals re-signed former Penguins goaltender Dany Sabourin to a one-year contract. Terms were not revealed.

Central Division

-The Red Wings are scheduled to hold a press conference today at 11 a.m. where it is expect that captain Nicklas Lidstrom (right) will announce his retirement after 20 NHL seasons.

-"You don't replace a guy like Nick." - Red Wings scout Mark Howe on Lidstrom.

-The Red Wings signed forward Calle Jarnkrok, a second-round pick in 2010, to a three-year entry-level contract.

-The Blue Jackets re-signed forward Derek MacKenzie to a two-year contract worth a total of $2 million. MacKenzie, 30, will have a salary cap hit of $1 million. MacKenzie appeared in 66 games last season and scored 14 points (seven goals, seven assists).

-The Predators signed free agent defenseman Joonas Järvinen to a two-year two-way contract.

Northwest Division

-The Canucks signed forward Alex Friesen, a sixth-round pick in 2007, to an entry-level contract. Terms were not revealed.

Pacific Division

-The Ducks signed forward Tim Heed, a fifth-round pick in 2010, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Norris Division

-"It is nothing more than speculation at this point."- NHL commissioner Gary Bettman (right) on suggestions another lockout could happen with the collective bargaining agreement expiring this summer.

-Colin Campbell, the NHL’s senior vice-president of hockey operations, said the NHL will hold a meeting in August among players, coaches and management to address the state of officiating in the NHL.
