Penguins recall Despres - 04-18-12

The Penguins have recalled defenseman Simon Despres from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL. (PG+)

A first-round pick in 2009,  Despres, 20, appeared in 18 games this past regular season and had four points (one goal, three assists). In 44  AHL games, Despres had 15 points (five goals, 10 assists).

Penguins defenseman Paul Martin skipped yesterday's practice for what was described as a "maintenance day."

EN Says: Given how poor the defense has been this series, a raw 20-year-old can't hurt things.
