Penguins

-The Penguins recalled forward Eric Tangradi from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. In 12 NHL games this season, he has no points. In 37 AHL games, he has 31 points (15 goals, 16 assists).

-Neal is scheduled to appear at an Altoona Curve game, Aug. 27.

-Bryan Lerg and Geoff Walker each had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who defeated the Portland Pirates, 5-3. Colin McDonald recorded two assists for the Penguins while teammate Scott Munroe made 25 saves.

Atlantic Division

-Rangers defenseman Marc Staal is still slowly regaining his conditioning. He was sidelined due to a concussion up until Jan. 1.

Northeast Division

-Craig Anderson made 28 saves for the Senators in a 6-0 shutout of the Islanders. Erik Karlsson had two goals and two assists for Ottawa while teammate Jason Spezza scored two goals.

-In honor of Presidents Day, the Washington Nationals "presidents" made an appearance on Long Island:

-The Bruins recalled forward Carter Camper from Providence of the AHL.

-The Maple Leafs demoted defenseman Keith Aulie to Toronto of the AHL.

-Sabres defenseman and former Penguin Jordan Leopold is familiar with being moved at the trade deadline.

Southeast Division

-Justin Peters made all of 17 saves for the Hurricanes in a 5-0 shutout of the Capitals. It was his first career shutout. Captain Eric Staal had two goals and an assist for Carolina while teammate Jiri Tlusty recorded two assists.

-“Embarassing effort, right from the start. We weren’t ready to play. Gave up chances, gave the puck away, didn’t get the puck in deep. Just all around embarrassing.” - Capitals forward Troy Brouwer.

-With goaltender Cam Ward dealing with an illness, the Hurricanes recalled goaltender Mike Murphy from Charlotte of the AHL.

-With captain Vincent Lecavalier sidelined due to an "upper-body" injury, the Lightning recalled forward Trevor Smith from Norfolk of the AHL.

-"This city might burn down. It would be awesome." - Jets forward Tim Stapleton on the possibility of the team reaching the postseason its first season in Winnipeg.

Central Division

-The Red Wings placed former Penguins goaltender Ty Conklin (right) on waivers.

-EN Says: It's been a popular suggestion for the Penguins to bring Conklin back considering the struggles of Brent Johnson. But Conklin has had a clunker of a season as well with a 3-5-0 record, .878 save percentage and 3.40 goals against average.

-Detroit forward Dan Cleary is expected to return to the lineup against the Blackhawks tonight after missing five games due to a knee ailment.

-Red Wings defenseman prospect Max Nicastro was arrested on sexual assault charges at Boston University.

-The Predators signed general manager David Poile to a contract extension which runs through the 2014-15 season.

-The Blues demoted goaltender Ben Bishop to Peoria of the AHL.

Northwest Division

-With goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin sidelined seven to 10 days due to a groin injury, the Oilers recalled goaltender Yann Danis from Oklahoma City of the AHL.

-“My third year in the ECHL I remember telling my parents, ‘If I’m still with the [Columbia] Inferno at Christmas, I’m going to have to pull the plug and go back to school, find something else for a career.'" - Canucks foward Alex Burrows (right). He is scheduled to appear in his 500th career NHL game tonight.

-The Wild demoted former Penguins forward Jeff Taffe to Houston of the AHL.

Pacific Division

-Sharks forward Marc-Edouard Vlasic is dealing with facial injuries after taking a puck to the face Sunday.

-The Ducks recalled defenseman Kyle Cumiskey from Syracuse of the AHL and demoted former Penguins defenseman Nate Guenin to Syracuse.
