Penguins

-Prior to last night's games, the Penguins had the second-most man-games lost in the NHL.

-Alex Grant and Matt Rust each had two goals for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 6-1 rout of the Binghamton Senators. Nick Petersen added a goal and two assists for the Penguins while teammates Joey Mormina and Eric Tangradi each recorded two assists. Scott Munroe made 24 saves in the victory.

-Denver Manderson scored two goals for the Wheeling Nailers who defeated the Elmira Jackals, 4-2. Chris Barton had a goal and an assist for the Nailers while teammate Patrick Killeen made 24 saves.

-Happy 76th birthday to former Penguins captain and Pittsburgh Hornets forward Ab McDonald (right). Chosen in the 1967 expansion draft, McDonald spent one season with the Penguins. During the franchise's innagural campaign of 1967-68, he played all 74 games and scored 43 points, including a team-leading 22 goals. He also served as the Penguins' first captain and was the first player in franchise history to wear No. 20. In the 1968 offseason, McDonald was traded to the Blues in exchange for Lou Angotti.

-Happy 45th birthday to former Penguins forward Glenn Mulvenna. Signed by the Penguins in the 1987 offseason, Mulvenna's career amounted to one game in the 1991-92 season. He signed with the rival Flyers in the following offseason.

Atlantic Division

-Shootout goals by Ilya Kovalchuk and Patrik Elias gave the Devils a 3-2 win against the Ducks. Martin Brodeur made 36 saves in the victory.

-Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf had a potential goal in overtime overturned after a video review concluded he kicked the puck into the net:

-Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk could return to the lineup today after being sidelined since Jan. 12 due to a concussion.

-Philadelphia forward Tom Sestito will be sidelined six to eight weeks due to a torn groin muscle.

-The Islanders placed defenseman Travis Hamonic (nose) on injured reserve and recalled goaltender Kevin Poulin from Bridgeport.

Northeast Division

-Shootout goals by Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais gave the Canadiens a 4-3 win against the Sabres. Carey Price made 27 saves in the victory. Ville Leino recorded two assists for Buffalo.

-Price got the better of Buffalo's Brad Boyes here:

-This was a road game for the Canadiens:

-"It's pretty embarrassing. There's no other word for it, really." - Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller on slipping into last place in the Eastern Conference.

-Bruins forward Rich Peverly will be sidelined four to six weeks due to a third-degree MCL sprain in his right knee.

-A Burnaby, B.C. church attended by the family of Bruins forward Milan Lucic was vandalized by Canucks fans.

Southeast Division

-Alexander Semin had a goal and an assist for the Capitals who defeated the Panthers, 2-1. Tomas Vokoun made 22 saves for Washington which snapped a three-game losing streak.

-Blake Wheeler had a goal and two assists for the Jets who defeated the Bruins, 4-2. Bryan Little scored two goals for Winnipeg while teamate Ondrej Pavelec made 31 saves in the victory.

-A goal and an assist by Jussi Jokinen led the Hurricanes to a 3-2 win against the Sharks. Justin Peter made 37 saves in the victory. San Jose has lot three out of its past four games.

-Panthers forward John Madden is expected to be sidelined at least two weeks due to an undisclosed injury.

Central Division

-A goal and an assist by Pavel Datsyk helpd the Red Wings edge the Predators, 2-1. Joey MacDonald made 20 saves for Detroit which extended its NHL-record home winning streak to 22 games.

-Goal of the Night: Datsyuk deked Predators defenseman Ryan Suter out of his jock and scored the game-winner with five seconds left in regulation:

-Defensive Play of the Night: Nashville's Jordin Tootoo stealing a puck off of Detroit Jakub Kindl and setting up teammate Nick Spaling for a goal:

-“You look at some of the things we’re looking at, someone as a big body with weight, who can handle the big power forwards in the league — penalty killing — guys who can maybe take (Ryan Suter) and (Shea Weber) out of that role a little bit. We’re looking for someone who is good in late-game situations.” - Predators coach Barry Trotz on trading for former Penguins defenseman Hal Gill.

-The Blackhawks recalled forward Jimmy Hayes from Rockford of the AHL and demoted forward Andrew Shaw to Rockford.

-The Blue Jackets activated defenseman Brett Lebda (right thumb) off injured reserve and placed goaltender Curtis Sanford (back) on injured reserve.

Northwest Division

-Gabriel Landeskog and Mark Olver each had a goal and an assist for the Avalanche who defeated the Oilers, 3-1. Ryan O'Reilly recorded three assists for Colorado while teammate Semyon Varlamov made 26 saves.

-Heads up times for Varlamov:

-Oilers coach Tom Renney missed the game as a result of post-concussion symptoms related to an accident when he took a puck to the head in practice, Feb. 6.

-The Avalanche placed forward T.J. Galiardi (shoulder) on injured reserve, recalled Olver and goaltender goaltender Cedrick Desjardins from Lake Erie of the AHL and demoted defenseman Tyson Barrie to Lake Erie.

-Canucks defenseman Keith Ballard is sidelined indefinitely due to "upper body symptoms" according to head coach Alain Vigneault.

-The Wild recalled forward Jed Ortmeyer from Houston of the AHL and demoted forward Cody Almond (right) to Houston.

Pacific Division

-The Stars recalled forward Ryan Garbutt from Texas of the AHL.

Norris Division

-Brooks Ostergard made 44 saves for the Robert Morris men's team in a 2-2 tie with RIT.

-Jordan Tibbett made 16 saves for the Mercyhurst men's team which lost to Air Force, 8-0.

-Hillary Pattenden made 25 saves for the Mercyhurst women's team in a 3-0 shutout of Robert Morris.
