Lemieux statue to be unveiled March 7 - 01-24-12

The most important athlete in Pittsburgh sports history will be getting a statue.

A statue of former Penguins captain and current owner Mario Lemieux will be unveiled March 7 outside Consol Energy Center.

According to the team, the statue is funded by the team's ownership group, local labor organizations and members of the Pittsburgh business community. The statue will be alongside the arena on Centre Avenue.

The Penguins host the Maple Leafs that day at 7:30 p.m.
