-With defensemen Chris Pronger (illness) and Braydon Coburn ("upper-body") dinged up, the Flyers recalled defensemen Marc-Andre Bourdon and Kevin Marshall from Adirondack of the AHL.

-Philadelphia officially unveiled its newest way to make money Winter Classic Jersey:
-EN Says: This is a rare miss for Winter Classi jersey. This looks like one of those weird Starter "polo shirt/jerseys" you'll occasionally see as some remnant from the 1990s. On top of that, the dominance of the orange and black makes the Flyers look like some sort of pumpkin. Just a bad jersey period.

-Tim Thomas made 30 saves for the Bruins in a 1-0 shutout of the rival Canadiens. Boston has won nine consecutives games. It was Thomas' second consecutive shutout and the 29th of his career.
-Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers will be sidelined four to six weeks due to a broken wrist.
-Buffalo forward Patrick Kaleta was fined $2,500 for a high stick against Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris Saturday.
Southeast Division
-Two goals and an assist from former Penguin Alexei Ponikarovsky led the Hurricanes to a 4-2 win against the Flyers. Fire Ray Shero. Chad LaRose added a goal and two assists for Carolian while teammate Jussi Jokinen recorded two assists. Cam Ward made 30 saves in the victory. James van Riemsdyk recorded two assists for Philadelphia.

-Two goals and an assist by Kris Versteeg led the Panthers to a comeback 4-3 win against the Devils. Stephen Weiss added a goal and two assists for Florida while teammate Jason Garrison recorded two assists. Jose Theodore recorded 22 assists in the victory. Andy Greene recorded two assists for New Jersey.

-The Panthers won a game for the second time in franchise history after trailing 3-0.
-A goal and an assist by Nicklas Backstrom led the Capitals to a 4-3 win against the Coyotes. Tomas Vokoun made 20 saves in the win which was the 200th in head coach Bruce Boudreau's career. Washington snapped a four-game losing streak. Lauri Korpikoski scored two goals for the Coyotes.
-Defensive Play of the Night: Phoenix's Radim Vrbata abusing Washington's John Carlson for a shorthanded goal:
-Capitals forward Alexander Semin was a healthy scratch.
-A bizarre display took place when this red balloon just quietly hovered above the slot of the Coyotes' zone in the second period:

-The Hurricanes recalled forward Brett Sutter from the Charlotte of the AHL and demoted forwards Zach Boychuk and Zac Dalpe to Charlotte.
Central Division
-Two goals by Jeff Carter led the Blue Jackets to a 4-1 win against the Flames. Vaclav Prospal recorded three assists for Columbus while Curtis Sanford made 27 saves in the victory.

-The Blue Jackets recalled goaltender Allen York from Springfield of the AHL and demoted forward Matt Calvert to Springfield.
Northwest Division
-Canucks forward Mason Raymond is close to returning to the lineup for the first time since suffering a broken vertebrae in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.
-The Canucks demoted goaltender Matt Climie to Chicago of the AHL.
Pacific Division
-Kari Lehtonen made all of 17 saves for the Stars in a 4-1 win against the Oilers. Dallas snapped a five-game losing streak.
-Happy times for the Stars. Not so much for Edmonton's Nikolai Khabibulin:

-Sharks forward Ryane Clowe was fined $2,500 for a slash against Stars defenseman Stephane Robidas:
