Letang, Staal game-time decisions - 11-03-11

Another day, another vague injury update.

Penguins defenseman Kris Letang and center Jordan Staal (above) will be game-time decisions for tonight's contest in San Jose. (PG+)

Letang skated today but has missed several recent home practices due to an undisclosed ailment. He leads all NHL defensemen in scoring with 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) in 11 games.

If he could not play, he would be replaced in the lineup by Alexandre Picard who was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.

Staal also skated today but he too has missed several recent practices after sitting out Saturday's game in Toronto due to "lower-body" injury. He has nine points (six goals, three assists) in 12 games.

For the Sharks, they are expected to use Jim Vandermeer and Justin Braun on their third defensive pairing instead of Colin White and Jason Demers.
