Devils starting Hedberg, Parise out - 04-05-11

A familiar face will make an appearance at the final home game of the season at Consol Energy Center.

The Devils will start former Penguin Johan Hedberg (above) in goal tonight. In 32 games this season, Hedberg is 14-11-2 with a 2.33 goals against average, a .914 save percentage and three shutouts.

In seven career games against the Penguins, Hedberg is 2-3-1 with a 2.77 goals against average, .905 save percentage and one shutout. His last game against the Penguins was  2-1 loss at Consol Energy Center Dec. 6. He made 32 saves on 34 shots.

Also, the Devils will be without the services of all-star forward Zach Parise.

Parise has missed most of the season due to a right knee injury. After missing 65 games, he returned to the lineup Saturday in a 3-1 loss to the Canadiens.

As a result, the Devils lines and defensive pairs looked like this at their morning skate:

Ilya Kovalchuk - Travis Zajac - Nick Palmieri
Brian Rolston - Patrik Elias - Mattias Tedenby
Dainius Zubrus - Jacob Josefson - David Clarkson
Rod Pelley - David Steckel - Vladimir Zharkov/Adam Mair

Henrik Tallinder - Mark Fayne
Anssi Salmela - Andy Greene
Mark Fraser - Jay Leach

For the Penguins, Dustin Jeffrey underwent surgery on his right knee. There was no word on his prognosis.

Also, the Penguins apparently had a lot of free time last summer because for the second day in a row, one of them had a baby. A day after Brent Johnson's wife gave birth, Chris Kunitz's wife did the same this morning as she introduced Payton Marie Kunitz to the world.
