Penguins sign Hobey Baker finalist Thompson - 03-28-11

The Penguins have signed New Hampshire forward Paul Thompson (6-foot-1, 205 pounds) to a two-year entry-level contract.

Thompson, an undrafted free agent, just completed his senior season at New Hampshire. In 39 games this season, Thompson had 52 points (28 goals, 24 assists) and was a plus-10. He was named a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. He also won Player of the Year honors for Hockey East.

Thompson, 22, attended the Penguins' prospect development camp this past summer.
