-Happy 38th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Philippe Boucher. Acquired early in the 2008-09 season in a trade which sent defenseman Darryl Sydor to the Stars, Boucher's Penguins career amounted to 25 games and six points that season. In nine postseason games that spring, he scored four points and even netted the game-winning goal in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final, a 3-2 home win against the Hurricanes. He retired in the 2009 offseason. He is a partial owner of Club de Golf la Tempete, a golf course in Quebec.

-Happy 30th birthday to former Penguins forward Ramzi Abid. He finished 2002-03 by playing in three games for the Penguins and failing to record a point. During 2003-04, injuries limited him to 16 games and five points. He is currently a member of EC Salzburg of the EBHL in Austria.

Atlantic Division

Northeast Division

-The Bruins and Canadiens face off tonight for the first time since...

{youtube width="480" height="300"}1enycgSIWJ4{/youtube}

-Bruins forward and former Penguin Mark Recchi actually accused the Canadiens of embellishing Max Paxcioretty's injury. Recchi said: "He does obviously have a fractured vertebra, but the concussion is obviously really a non-factor. In maybe a day or two -- maybe a day he felt it -- but he was fine a couple days later. They were trying to get Zdeno suspended and they embellished it a little bit. In terms of that side, they're doing whatever they could to get him suspended. I think the league sent a message that it was a hockey play. That's the important thing and people have to understand. If they deemed it something that was serious, they suspended Matt Cooke up to 17 games for a head shot. They're serious about protecting the players now. That was an interference play at worst. The partitions got in the way. I don't think Zdeno is to blame for that."

-Thinking Out Loud: How exactly do you embellish a broken neck?

-The Bruins signed undrafted free agent Brian Cantin to an entry-level contract. Terms were not disclosed.
