Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

The Penguins have recalled defensemen Corey Potter (right) and Steve Wagner from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.

Potter, 27, has appeared in 62 AHL games this season and has scored 27 points (two goals, 25 assists). A right-handed shot, Potter joined the Penguins as a free agent this past offseason. Potter has appeared in eight career NHL games with the Rangers over the past two season and has two points (one goal, one assist).

Wagner, 27, has appeared in 64 AHL games this season and has scored 26 points (five goals, 21 assists). A left-handed shot, Wagner came to the Penguins last season in a trade which sent Nate Guenin to the Blues. He has appeared in 46 career NHL games in his over the previous two seasons and has 12 points (four goals, eight assists).

Penguins defenseman Matt Niskanen will not play tonight due to the flu. Defenseman Brooks Orpik (finger) is on injured reserve.

Note: The Senators made a recall as well. Forward Jim O'Brien and defenseman Andre Benoit were recalled from Binghamton of the AHL.

EN Says: A recall isn't shocking but the fact that two players were recalled is a little surprising. One has to be curious if Kris Letang is healthy after he was walloped by Oilers forward Gilbert Brule Sunday. Letang saw a doctor yesterday as a precaution according to Bylsma.
