Steckel: 'Tell Sid I’m really sorry' - 03-04-11

Former Capitals forward David Steckel (above), now of the Devils, revealed today he attempted to apologize to Penguins captain Crosby through Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland for a hit in the Winter Classic which injured Crosby (PG+). Crosby has only played one game since the Winter Classic due to a concussion.

Steckel said, "I talked to Derek Engelland afterward and said, ‘Tell Sid I’m really sorry. I didn’t see him at all.

Engelland and Steckel are former teammates with the Hershey Bears.

Steckel was traded to the Devils Monday in exchange for Jason Arnott.

In other news:

-Penguins forward Chris Kunitz was removed from injured reserve but will not play tonight.

-Devils forward David Clarkson is expected to play tonight after attending to the birth of his daughter today.

-The Devils' lines and defensive pairings were slightly different this morning compared to their game Wednesday:
