Atlantic Division
-A hat trick by Michael Grabner, including one goal in overtime, led the Islanders to a wild 7-6 win at Buffalo. Frans Nielsen and Kyle Okposo each recorded three assists for New York while teammates Milan Jurcina and John Tavares each netted a goal and an assist. Al Montoya made 12 saves in the victory. Drew Stafford also had a hat trick for the Sabres.

Northeast Division
-The Bruins demoted forward Jordan Caron to Providence of the AHL.
-The Senators recalled forward Bobby Butler and goaltender Robin Lehner from Binghamton of the AHL.
Southeast Division
-Cam Ward made 40 saves for the Hurricanes in a 3-2 win at Atlanta. Sergei Samsonov recorded two assists for Carolina which moved past the Thrashers for eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Captain Andrew Ladd scored both of the Thrashers' goals.

-A goal and an assist by Chris Higgins led the Panthers to a 3-2 win against the Sharks. Teammate Marty Reasoner recorded two assists while Tomas Vokoun made 28 saves in the victory. Joe Pavelski had a goal and an assist for San Jose.
-With forwards Alexander Burmistrov dealing with a foot injury, the Thrashers recalled forward Spencer Machacek from Chicago of the AHL.
Central Division
-Two goals by Todd Bertuzzi led the Red Wing to a 4-2 win against the Bruins. Jimmy Howard made 23 saves in the victory. Michael Ryder had two assists for Boston.

-Avalanche forward Peter Forsberg is expected to announce his retirement today.
-Wild forward prospect Tyler Cuma, a first-round pick in 2008, tore an ACL and will be sidelined six months.
Pacific Division
-Jonathan Quick made 40 saves and led the Kings to a 1-0 shutout of the Flyers. It was Quick's sixth shutout of the season.
