Penguins

-John Curry made 12 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-2 loss to the Adirondack Phantoms.

-This game was played in front of 18,056 souls at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. It was the largest crowd to ever see a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins game.

-A goal and an assist by Casey Pierro-Zabotel helped the Wheeling Nailers edge the Trenton Devils 4-3. Nick Petersen recorded two assists for the Nailers while Patrick Killeen made 34 saves in the victory.

-Happy 36th birthday to former Penguins forward Shean Donovan (right). Claimed off waivers from the Thrashers late in the 2001-02 season, Donovan spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. He finished 2001-02 by appearing in 13 games and scoring three points. After 52 games and nine points in 2002-03, Donovan was traded to the Flames in exchange for Micki Dupont and Mathias Johansson. In 65 games with the Penguins, Donovan scored 12 points.

Atlantic Division

-Two goals by Michael Grabner help the Islanders claim a 5-2 win at Buffalo. Teammate Rob Schremp recorded two assists while Kevin Poulin made 26 saves in the victory. Nathan Gerbe scored both of the Sabres' goals.

-Gerbe took all of five seconds to score both of his goals:

-New York's Frans Nielsen put a little too much torque on this stick:

-Buffalo's Patrick Lalime streched out to make this save on Grabner:

-Islanders goaltender Nathan Lawson left the game due to a knee injury.

-Devils forward Nick Palmieri is dealing with an "upper-body" injury.

Northeast Division

-Tomas Plekanec scored two goals and led the Canadiens to a 7-1 rout of the rival Senators. Andrei Kostitsyn and Max Pacioretty each netted a goal and an assist for Montreal while teammates Scott Gomez and Steve Wisniewski each recorded two assists. Carey Price made 33 saves in the victory.

-This was a road game for the Canadiens:

-The Senators have been outscored 13-3 in two nights.

-Senators forward and former Penguin Alex Kovalev returned to the line up after missing six games due to a knee injury.

-Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta re-injured his broken left hand.

-The Maple Leafs demoted forward Marcel Mueller to Toronto of the AHL.

-Forward Mikhail Grabovski has been a rare bright spot for the Maple Leafs this season.

Southeast Division

-A shootout goal by former Penguin Dominic Moore gave the Lightning a 2-1 win at Florida. Fire Ray Shero. Dan Ellis made 29 saves in the victory which was Tampa Bay's third consecutive.

-Scoring Race Watch: Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos recorded an assist on the play and moved in a tie with Sidney Crosby for the league's scoring race with 66 points.

-The Capitals demoted defenseman Brian Fahey to Hershey of the AHL.

-Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau took a break from eating Hagen Daas and offered his opinion on Sidney Crosby's concussion.

Central Division

-The Red Wings recalled goaltender Jordan Pearce from Grand Rapids of the AHL and demoted goaltender Joey MacDonald to Grand Rapids.

-The Blue Jackets demoted forward Kyle Wilson to Springfield of the AHL.

-Blackhawks forward and former Penguin Marian Hossa (right) only has two goals since Christmas. Promote Ray Shero.

Northwest Division

-David Moss had two goals and an assist for Calgary in a 7-4 rout of the Stars. Teammates Jarome Iginla, Olli Jokinen, Brendan Morrison and Alex Tanguay each netted a goal and an assist while Henrik Karlsson made 17 saves in the victory. Mike Ribeiro recorded three assists for Dallas.

-Here we go again. Former Colorado star Peter Forsberg is expected to participate in a morning skate with the Avalanche today.

-The Avalanche recalled forward T.J. Galiardi from Lake Erie of the AHL.

Pacific Division

-Ducks forward Saku Koivu (right) returns to Montreal tonight for the first time since leaving the Canadiens as a free agent in 2009. Koivu served as the Canadiens' captain for 10 seasons.

-Canadiens fans have started a movement to make Koivu the game's first star regardless of the outcome.

-Stars defenseman Matt Niskanen returned to the lineup after missing six games due to a hand injury.

-Kings general manager Dean Lombardi was fined $50,000 for criticizing NHL executive Mike Murphy over a video review.

-The Sharks recalled goaltender J.P. Anderson from Mississauga of the OHL on an emergency basis.

Norris Division

-Eric Levine made 15 saves for the Robert Morris men's team in a 3-1 loss to Army.

-Ryan Zapolski made 33 saves for the Mercyhurst men's team in an 8-2 rout of Bentley.

-Hillary Pattenden made 18 saves for the Mercyhurst women's team in a 6-3 defeat of Robert Morris.
