Penguins demote Curry - 12-29-10

Written by Seth Rorabaugh on .

With Brent Johnson apparently healthy enough to suit up tonight, the Penguins demoted goaltender John Curry to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Curry was recalled last week after Johnson suffered a groin injury in a 5-2 home win against the Panthers Dec. 22. Curry served as Marc-Andre Fleury's back up in the last three games.

Curry has not played in the NHL this season. In 16 AHL games this season, Curry is 11-5-0 with a 2.33 goals against average, .913 save percentage and one shutout.

Ironically, Curry might see action tomorrow at Consol Energy Center with the AHL Penguins facing the Hershey Bears at 7:35 p.m.
