Penguins

-Late in a blow out of a terrible Devils team, Capitals fans began chanting "We Want Pittsburgh!" last night:

-Good luck with that:

-Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, Marc-Andre Fleury and Evgeni Malkin are popular. They're among the leaders in all-star voting.

-Dan Bylsma speaks:

-Kris Letang speaks:

-Brooks Orpik speaks:

-Mario Lemieux is donating several of his personal trophies for a temporary display at the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum.

-"America's Got Talent" star Jackie Evancho is scheduled to handle the American national anthem at the Winter Classic.

-Unlike Bruce Boudreau's mom, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman doesn't mind the Capitals coach's potty mouth.

Atlantic Division

-The Islanders placed goaltender Rick DiPietro (knee) and defenseman Mike Mottau (eye) on injured reserve.

Northeast Division

-Tyler Ennis scored two goals for the Sabres in a 5-2 defeat of the Ducks. Captain Craig Rivet added a goal and an assist for Buffalo while teammate Derek Roy and former Penguin Jordan Leopold each recorded two assists. Fire Ray Shero. Ryan Miller made 21 saves in hte victory. Corey Perry scored both of Anaheim's goals.

-Check out this little bit of robbery by Miller:

-Ducks forward Jason Blake hit Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta from behind with a dangerous hit:

-This game featured an all-Western Pennsylvania fight. Anaheim's George Parros of Washington, Pa. made quick work of Buffalo's Mike Weber, a Mars native:

-Joseph Robb, a Maple Leafs fan who has been charged with a criminal mischief charge after he was accused of throwing waffles onto the ice of Air Canada Center Monday, has been banned from all three Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment arenas.

-Do yourself a favor and read this fantastic story by GQ's Mary Rogan on Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke and his late son Brendan.

Southeast Division

-John Carlson and Andrew Gordon each had a goal and an assist for the Capitals in a 5-1 win against the Devils. Michal Neuvirth made 35 saves in the victory. New Jersey has lost nine consecutive road games.

-Check out this pass by Washington's Marcus Johansson to set up Gordon for his goal:

-We don't want to question the skating ability of Washington's Jason Chimera, but...:

-Capitals forward Matt Bradley suffered a broken finger and will be sidelined two to four weeks.

-With former Penguins forward Ryan Malone dealing with an "upper-body" injury, the Lightning recalled forward Johan Harju from Norfolk of the AHL.

-Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward is dealing with a skin infection.

Central Division

-Alex Pietrangelo and Vladimir Sobotka each had a goal and an assist for the Blues in a 4-2 win at Atlanta. Former Ty Conklin made 37 saves in the victory. Fire Ray Shero.

-Former Penguin Mathieu Garon made 29 saves for the Blue Jackets in a 3-1 win against the Flames. Fire Ray Shero. Calgary has lost three consecutive games.

-Columbus' Kyle Wilson didn't appear to like the placement of Calgary captain Jarome Iginla's elbow:

-Columbus' Marc Methot alone in the dark:

-Calgary's Ales Kotalik > Columbus' Jakub Voracek:

-Calgary's Henrik Karlsson had issues with this puck:

-Red Wings defenseman Brad Stuart is dealing with a knee ailment.

-The Blue Jackets extended their affiliation agreement with the AHL's Springfield Falcons through the 2011-12 season.

-Loui Eriksson had a goal and an assist for the Stars in a 5-2 defeat of the Canadiens. Stephane Robidas recorded three assists for Dallas while teammate Steve Ott netted two assists. Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves in the victory which moved the Stars into first place in the Western Conference.

-Lehtonen stopped this puck:

-Montreal's Carey Price having a moment:

-Jonathan Quick made 23 saves for the Kings in a 5-0 shutout of the Avalanche. Captain Dustin Brown had two goals and two assists for Los Angeles while former Penguin Rob Scuderi added a goal and an assist. Fire Ray Shero. Colorado had a six-game winning streak snapped.

-Antero Niittymaki made 26 saves for the Sharks who edged the Oilers, 2-1.

-Check out this pass by San Jose's Ryane Clowe to set up Logan Couture for a goal:

-The Kings activated forward Marco Sturm (knee) from injured reserve.

-On a team full of all-stars like Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley and Patrick Marleau, Logan Couture has emerged as the Sharks' top goal-scorer.

-With forward Nick Bonino dealing with a foot injury, the Ducks recalled forward Josh Green from Syracuse of the AHL.

-Ducks forward Bobby Ryan has a cute commercial on behalf of his team:

{youtube width="480" height="295"}T5xT5XiTy9k{/youtube}

-Thinking Out Loud: It's a shame more of the Penguins' commercials aren't like this. This is quirky and involves a "hockey thing" such as the skate sharpener which hockey fans can connect with. The Penguins' "Destiny" commercials seem like an ad campaign for a James Cameron movie. Very little about their commercials say "hockey."
