Southeast Division
-An overtime goal and an assist by Dustin Byfuglien gave the Thrashers a 2-1 win against the Islanders. Captain Andrew Ladd added two assists for Atlanta while Ondrej Pavelec made 28 saves in the victory. New York has lost 13 consecutive games.

-Islanders defenseman Mike Mottau was hospitalized after suffering an eye injury:

Central Division
-An overtime goal and two assists by Nicklas Lidstrom led the Red Wings to a wild 5-4 win against the Flames. Detroit Henrik Zetterberg had two goals, including one with 3.2 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, while teammate Pavel Datsyuk added a goal and two assists. Jimmy Howard made 23 saves in the victory. Jarome Iginla led Calgary with two goals and an assist.

-A goal and an assist each from Tom Gilbert and Ales Hesmky helped the Oilers win at Anaheim, 4-2. Teammate Dustin Penner recorded two assists while Devan Dubnyk made 38 saves in the victory which snapped a six-game losing streak. The Ducks have lost five consecutive games.

-The Wild demoted defenseman Marco Scandella to Houston of the AHL.
Pacific Division
-Two goals by Taylor Pyatt helped the Coyotes claim a 3-2 win at Vancouver. Ilya Brzygalov made 25 saves in the victory which was Phoenix's sixth consecutive. The Canucks have lost four consecutive games.

-Coyotes captain Shane Doan returned to the lineup after missing seven games due to a "lower body" injury.
-Ducks defenseman/expertise inquirer Andy Sutton returned to the lineup after being sidelined six weeks due to a broken thumb.
-The Ducks recalled forwards Dan Sexton and Brandon McMillan from Syracuse of the AHL and placed forward Josh Green on waivers.
-Coyotes forward and former Penguin Paul Bissonnette claims his phone - with personal phone numbers for NHLers such as Sidney Crosby - was stolen in Edmonton.
