Penguins

-You weren't the only one less than pleased with the Penguins' first 10 games. Dan Bylsma wasn't crazy about them either.

-A goal and an assist by Nick Johnson helped the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins beat the rival Adirondack Flyers, 4-1. Teammate Andrew Hutchinson added two assists while Brad Thiessen made 17 saves in the win. At 7-0-0, the Penguins are the AHL's only undefeated team.

-Mattais Modig made 28 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-0 loss to the Reading Royals.

-Happy 58th birthday to former Penguins forward Ron Lalonde. A fourth-round pick in 1972, Lalonde spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. As a rookie in 1972-73, Lalone appeared in nine games and failed to record a point. He followed that up in 1973-74 by playing in 73 games and scoring 27 points. After 24 games and three points in 1974-75, Lalonde was traded to the Capitals in exchange for Lew Morrison. In 106 games with the Penguins, Morrison scored 30 points.

-Happy 43rd birthday to former Penguins forward Brad Aitken. A third-round pick in 1986, Aitken spent parts of two seasons in Pittsburgh. As a rookie in 1987-88, Aitken appeared in five games and scored two points. After spending all of 1988-89 and 1989-90 with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, the Penguins' IHL affiliate, Aitken appeared in six games and recorded one assist for the Penguins in 1990-91. At the 1991 trade deadline, he was traded to the Oilers in exchange for Kim Issel. In 11 games for the Penguins, Aitken scored three points.

Atlantic Division

-Martin Brodeur (above) made 27 saves and led the Devils to a much-needed 2-1 win at Anaheim.

-Devils forward Rod Pelley re-opened a cut on his nose during a goal celebration when he was clipped by the visor of captain Jamie Langenbrunner.

-The Devils placed defenseman Mark Fraser (right hand) on injured reserve.

-The Islanders demoted forward Rob Schremp to Bridgeport of the AHL for conditioning purposes.

-Flyers goaltender Michael Leighton is expected to practice today for the first time since undergoing back surgery Oct. 11.

Northeast Division

-Alex Auld made 30 saves and led the Canadiens to a 3-1 win against the Islanders.

-The Sabres made captain Craig Rivet a healthy scratch last night.

Southeast Division

-Jeff Skinner had two goals and an assist for the Hurricanes in a 4-3 win against the Rangers. Tuomo Ruutu added a goal and two assists for Carolina while teammate Erik Cole contributed a goal and an assist. Cam Ward made 40 saves in the victory. Ryan Callahan led New York with a goal and an assist.

-It was just one of those nights for New York's Henrik Lundqvist:

-An overtime goal and an assist by Dustin Byfuglien gave the Thrashers a 4-3 win against the Sabres. Teammate Tobias Enstrom added two assists while Chris Mason made 25 saves in the victory. Former Penguin Jordan Leopold and Derek Roy each led Buffalo with a goal and an assist. Fire Ray Shero.

-Thrashers defenseman Zach Bogosian returned to the lineup after missing six games due to a shoulder injury.

-Lightning forward Martin St. Louis is expected to appear in his 400th consecutive game tonight.

-Tampa Bay defenseman Mike Vernace cleared waivers and was demoted to Norfolk of the AHL.

Central Division

-Blues defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo is day to day with a suspected head injury.

-The Blackhawks recalled forward Ben Smith from Rockford of the AHL.

-The Predators recalled forward Linus Klasen from Milwaukee of the AHL.

-Blue Jackets defenseman Jan Hejda is dealing with a calf injury.

Northwest Division

-Two goals by Sam Gagner sparked the Oilers in a 7-4 win at Chicago. Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Ales Hemsky (above) each added a goal and an assist for Edmonton while teammates Kurtis Foster and Magnus Paajarvi each recorded two assists. Nikolai Khabibulin made 37 saves in the victory. Patrick Sharp led Chicago with a goal and two assists.

-The last time the Oilers won a regulation game in Chicago, Hall was 12 years old.

-The Flames signed defenseman Mark Giordano to a five-year contract extension. According to ESPN, Giordano, who would have become an unrestricted free agent after this season, will have a salary cap hit of $4.02 million.

-Dating back to last season, Canucks forward Daniel Sedin (right) has scored at least a point in 31 of his last 32 regular season games.

Pacific Division

-The Ducks recalled forward Josh Green from Syracuse of the AHL.

-The Kings activated forward Marc-Andre Cliche from long-term injured reserve and demoted him to Manchester of the AHL.

-The Stars demoted defenseman Philip Larsen to Texas of the AHL.

Adams Division

-ESPN's Pierre Lebrun has a good read on former Senators/Flyers goaltender Ray Emery's struggles to return from hip surgery.

-Former Oilers/Kings forward Jared Aulin has joined Leksand of the Allsvenskan in Sweden.

Brandon Coccimiglio and Steve Cameron and sophomore Paul Chiasson each scored goals for the Mercyhurst men's team in a 5-3 loss to Niagara.

-Brooks Ostergard made 25 saves for the Robert Morris men's team in a 3-2 overtime loss to RIT.

-Christine Bestland and Meghan Agosta each had two goals and an assist for the Mercyhurst women's team in a 7-3 defeat of Robert Morris. Sara O'Malley and Thea Imbrogno each had a goal and an assist for Robert Morris.
