Penguins demote Modig - 09-26-10

The Penguins demoted goaltender Mattias Modig (right) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL. Modig, 23, did not play in the preseason.

A native of Sweden, Modig was acquired in the offseason in a deal which sent a draft pick to the Ducks. He has spent the past two seasons with Lulea HF in Sweden.

The move leaves 41 players on the Penguins’ roster: 23 forwards; 14 defensemen; and four goaltenders.
