SEA votes to demolish Civic Arena - 09-16-10

The writing was on the wall. And pretty soon, there probably won't be any walls.

The Civic Arena is facing demolition.

During a meeting this morning, the city-Allegheny County Sports & Exhibition Authority voted unanimously to being the process of racing the 49-year-old landmark which formerly served as the home of the Penguins.

A local group, Reuse the Igloo, has been pushing efforts to save the structure in some fashion in order to turn it into some sort of public space.
